  • Which plant teacher is best for me?
This is completely a personal choice. As you are being called to awaken and do your personal work, you need to trust your intuition on what will be best for you. Please avoid basing your research on the personal experience of others, as this tends to bring on expectations and comparison on how your experience will be. You are encouraged to get information on the provider and how they hold their retreats, and to find out what is offered in terms of expertise. This decision should be purely based on what “feels” right to you.
  • Cancellation Policy
IF YOU CANCEL YOUR RETREAT: We do not offer refunds. All retreats payments are Non-Refundable and final. The only exception to our cancellation policy depends on health-related emergencies. We can transfer your booking to another date, but you will need to verify your case to be provided with the validity of transfer ability of your retreat registration. Our retreats hold limited spaces and depending on the type of retreat or location, your booking may incur costs to us in terms of travel and accommodation. For this reason, deposits are non-refundable, and cancellations must be made as soon as possible prior to the commencement of the retreat in order to have the time to offer this space to others and to cover our costs. If transfers are not possible you will lose any payments already made. For further information and transfers please contact Sherry- IBOGAwaken far advanced as possible on healing@ibogawaken.com or phone us on 647 794 2727 We also strongly suggest you protect yourself further and encourage you to purchase travel insurance where applicable. IF WE CANCEL THE RETREAT: We have never had to cancel a retreat; however, if we cancel a trip due to too few participants, we will refund you all deposits and payments you have paid. Unfortunately, however, we cannot compensate you for airfare or travel costs incurred (travel insurance would be an option if you are concerned). In the unlikely event that IBOGAwaken must cancel a retreat due to weather, natural disaster, or political upheaval, we cannot guarantee a refund. Unfortunately, we work with many different venues/tour operators and are subject to their cancellation policies (this will be reviewed individually, depending on the situation). To cover these risks, we highly recommend you purchase travel insurance.
  • What is the difference between Ayahuasca and Iboga?
Iboga is an African shrub where the roots are dried, ground and taken orally. The Iboga root is known to be very grounding and provides a journey within. It is the only plant that has both the feminine and masculine spirit within it which puts it at the top of the all sacred plant medicine. This plant teacher will last a long time after doing a retreat in terms of insights. The effects of Iboga can last up to 24 hours while in ceremony. Providing you qualify for Iboga by filling preliminary intake, there is no special diet to prepare for Iboga, however it is recommended to omit alcohol and over the counter medications or vitamins for at least 2 weeks prior to attending a retreat. You will know when the time is right to do another ceremony to dive deeper into yourself if need be. This master plant teacher is the safest way to consciously access the spirit world. Ayahuasca consists of a vine and leaves that come from the amazon in South America. It is taken orally as a tea. As it is a vine, and the best way for me to describe this, from my own experience is, that it shoots your consciousness out into the cosmos which can be very cryptic and hard to understand. This feminine plant teacher is a powerful detoxifier. It is best to prepare the body with a good detox, also known as a dieta, of 30 days prior to ingesting. This plant teacher is more intense in terms of its psychedelic effects and the ceremony will last up to six hours. Ayahuasca has become very mainstream as there are many places offering it. Ayahuasca does have deep healing qualities, however many people feel the need to go back to ceremony repeatedly. It is common to hear that some people have drunk it twenty to a hundred times or more.
  • What steps should I take before registering for a retreat?
    Complete our Intake Form HERE.
  • Some people have fear in taking Iboga.
It is completely normal to have some nervousness when diving into something new. Please do your research and find a provider that has been properly trained, and endorsed by 10th generation shaman Moughenda, the only Shaman given permission to train westerners. It is of utmost importance to use Iboga in ceremony with a qualified provider as it can be harmful if not handled properly. Your safety and health at Ibogawaken, is our top priority, and we encourage you to be as forthcoming in the preliminary intake form to ensure you qualify for an Iboga retreat. This will help put your mind at ease knowing you are in good hands. We encourage you to not research others “personal healing experiences” as this can lead to expectations in your own personal journey. The medicine works uniquely with each individual and it’s best to trust that folks are experiencing healing with the medicine.
  • What if it doesn't work?
Firstly, ensure that you are 100% ready to go inward and do the work. Since this is your experience, we cannot tell you how this medicine will work with you. Many have reported major shifts during and shortly after retreat, and some have said the shifts took a longer period, however when they look back on their lives after a year, they can see how much things have changed with the help of the medicine. At our retreats, you will learn some tools on how to handle life and any of life’s obstacles that may arise. You will be supported once you go home with a few hours of integration time over the phone with your provider of choice as part of your integration program.
  • How do I know Iboga is right for me?
If you have been called and feel the excitement which can also be disguised as nervousness when you hear about Iboga, you will know it is right for you. Please fill out the preliminary intake form to ensure you are a good candidate to partake in an Iboga retreat. You will be contacted shortly after the intake has been submitted to answer any further questions.
  • What's the difference between Iboga and Ibogaine?
Ibogaine is a pharmaceutical/synthetic derivative of a single alkaloid extract from the root bark – it’s best known to break opioid and pharmaceutical addictions, used in a clinical setting and administered by a doctor. Since it is synthetic, the spirit of the plant Iboga has been removed.
  • "I was very nervous and skeptical about doing Iboga for the first time"
First of all, I would love to thank Sherry for everything she does. I have to say at first, I was very nervous and skeptical about doing Iboga for the first time not knowing what it was about or what would come from it but then I met Sherry and all my fears and nervousness about Iboga went away in a blink of an eye. I felt such comfort. It’s like my spirit guide knew her already and was waiting for her to arrive to show me what she is capable of. I have never felt so open and ready to receive this gift that she has introduced me to. The ceremonial journey I had was very intense and got straight to the root of my questions and problems. I can say this has helped me move forward in life. She is a blessing to all. The way she helps people is truly amazing and I would definitely attend another Iboga ceremony when I have the need for it. Thank you, Sherry, for helping me solve the pieces to my puzzle. ~ DG
  • If you’re thinking about working with her, my advice is- just do it.
Before working with Sherry, I was searching for the missing piece in my personal and spiritual growth. As a master NLP coach, I have amazing tools that I work with, and yet there was a persistent nagging feeling that something was not quite complete in my own spiritual empowerment journey. During our ceremonies, I felt cared for and I was able to finally understand and accept my authentic self with love and gratitude. Over the years I’ve submerged myself in the world of empowerment and personal growth, and have worked with many mentors, coaches and healers. Working with Sherry stood out as a magical transformation that has not only helped me in my personal life, but has also helped me to understand and connect with my own clients with more compassion than ever before. She helped me shift the way I relate with myself and others as well as how I see the world - all within one magical week. I cannot even begin to express how grateful I am for deciding to work with her, and for saying YES to this psycho-spiritual journey. If you’re thinking about working with her, my advice is- just do it. You will come out of it with so much insight and compassion for yourself that you might not even know you need it yet. ~ MS
  • My mind is at peace, and I have the new start I was always looking for. Bassé !!
Thank you so much for the gift this plant is bringing to the world and you helping share it. Your hospitality was wonderful, I felt pampered under your care, and your nutritious food during those days of deep and inner reflection. I had no expectation and I got so much out of these experiences. My life is simple but very rich with what I found inside. I hope the entire world get exposed to this natural gift. I was super happy to have the two of you there to support me, answer my questions and help me through the process in a smooth and kind way. Your environment is special, and I am also glad for the caring both of you provided after every session. I will do it again when time comes, I know there are more changes awaiting. My mind is at peace, and I have the new start I was always looking for. Basse !! Blessings to both you ~ LP
  • I felt the call and reached out for a different type of help.
I reached out to Sherry for help last year after a deep personal realization that I was on the verge of losing my ability to manage my life. My partner and I had just undertaken a major move; both changed jobs, and were navigating all the typical stressors and challenges that accompany a big life shift. I was constantly overwhelmed by anxious feelings, couldn’t sleep properly, and began to lose weight, despite my best efforts to keep it on. I finally reached a point where I knew that I needed help and was reluctant to look for a pharmaceutical or medical solution – I felt the call and reached out for a different type of help. Through my work with Sherry, I’m grateful to say that my life is back on track and then some; I’m more self-aware of patterns in thought and behavior, more aware of my emotional reactions and responses to things, and more open to receiving life’s daily joy. Furthermore, my Raynaud’s symptoms in my hands are gone, my immune system is strong, and I feel like a new human, which I do not say lightly. I felt incredibly safe, comfortable, and supported through all steps of my journey; Sherry is truly an amazing listener and healer, and I am beyond grateful for her help and guidance in my life. Thanks Sherry! ~ JK ~ Jan 2023
  • The Bwiti Iboga ceremony is beautiful, gentle, compassionate and healing.
My Iboga ceremonies, guided by Adele and Sherry have been beautiful and gentle while at the same time firmly bringing forth traumas and emotions I didn't even know impacted me. From the moment I sent the first text to Adele of my intent to attend the full moon women's retreat conducted by Ibogawaken and Ibogatemple, I have been the recipient of support beyond my expectations. Both Adele and Sherry have the skills to hold space, guide a journey and coach integration with the knowledge given to Bwiti trained providers. The Bwiti Iboga ceremony is beautiful, gentle, compassionate and healing. I have healed my asthma and no longer require medication. But much, much more than physical healing, I healed significant traumas, from electro shock therapy, emotions attached to childhood sexual abuse and emotions I did not even know were impacting my body. Before embarking on an Iboga journey, please ask the credentials of those who may be providing your journey. Strongly consider Ibogawaken and Ibogatemple, both Sherry and Adele work within the integrity of the Bwiti tradition. The food was AMAZING, your anticipated and real needs are met on the spot and you will be fully supported in your journey. You will be cared for, and will be enveloped in love. ~ SS
  • One of the most amazing weeks of my life!
I’ve been on a soul search journey for a very long time, a journey that had many stops and had led me to experience ayahuasca and just in the past year, Iboga. Of course, I have done my research and have asked the shaman who basically brought Iboga to the Western world to recommend a person who is trained to work with this sacred plant and could be trusted to properly guide people through this intense journey. And that’s how I’ve met wonderful Sherry, who’s done very intensive and advanced training in Africa to be a provider, after recognizing the limitations of the western psychology applied “by the book”. I am forever grateful for having met Sherry to guide me through this experience- and I am not going to talk about my iboga experience as I don’t want you to think yours will be the same, as we are all unique individuals- and hold space for me 24/7 during my week at the resort. Her dedication in getting to know me and to understand where I am in order to help me break through this process was outstanding. She has an amazing ability to uncover your hidden issues that need healing and bring them out to the surface in a subtle, loving, and sometimes funny way. Yes, Sherry will not only hold space for you, she will help you dig into your issues to find solutions or healing. And I have to mention that when you do plant medicine, you have to be prepared to process years of trauma, and this is not an easy process. Sherry’s support and nurturing care made it a very smooth experience for me and maybe one of the most amazing weeks of my life! ~ AS
  • I am grateful for all the lessons the retreat has taught me.
"My experience of doing iboga with Sherry was full of unexpected results and surprises. I felt safe and well taken care of as Sherry hardly left my side during both ceremony nights. As a first time iboga user this was particularly reassuring to me. She was also very considerate in catering to my specific dietary needs. When I was ready to share some past experiences I had gone through, she was a very supportive listener. I am grateful for all the lessons the retreat has taught me." ~ AF
  • My soul is not just singing, but dancing now!
Sherry's down to earth approach and delightful sense of humor, provided the safe and loving container to awaken my healing. We got to the root cause of my pain and suffering, the traumatic sexual abuse at a tender age. The ceremonies were so beautiful beyond my imagination and I feel truly nourished and deeply blessed. I have finally returned home to my body and connected with my soul. My soul is not just singing, but dancing now! ~ RS
  • I'm glad I had 3 therapy sessions with Sherry before my Iboga experience as it helped me to prepare for the medicine and set my intentions.
The Iboga experience has been life changing for me, giving me answers & healing I have been seeking my whole life. I appreciate and I'm glad I had 3 therapy sessions with Sherry before my Iboga experience as it helped me to prepare for the medicine and set my intentions. Sherry was great throughout the whole experience and supported me every day both emotionally and physically when I needed it. I loved the support on the integration days which included nature walks which helped me to process and digest everything. Sherry was accommodating to my nutritional challenges, which was great. I would definitely recommend this experience with Sherry to anyone who is looking for deep healing. ~ KS
  • Journal! Journal! JOURNAL!!!
This was my first time working with Iboga. My coach, guide, therapist, friend and sister through my journey with the medicine was Sherry. I’ve worked with other plant medicines but my experience with Iboga and the work I did with Sherry was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. I did the Psychospiritual Retreat ~ one on one. It was about a week long and the work was DEEEEEEP! Deep - is the only word I can think to describe it. At Ibogawaken my physical, emotional and spiritual safety and comfort was of Sherry’s top priority! Sherry patiently and effectively answered my endless questions leading up to the ceremony week. She gave me tips and great information on how to prepare my mind, body and the space for the journey. Everyone’s journey will be different ~ so go into yours with an open heart and soul. Try not to over study other people’s experiences etc. Focus on yours and what you want out of it. The focus of my healing was to get to the root of my dependence to alcohol; which stemmed heavily from childhood, my complicated relationship with my parents - specifically my mother wound ~ mama trauma. I had done many years of work on myself before being called to Iboga. Prior to working with Sherry I would say that my relationship with alcohol was “casual but with vague boundaries”. Once I started ~ I had a hard time stopping. If I was experiencing painful dynamics with family, be it conflict, neglect or withdrawal of respect and love etc. – I would immediately reach for alcohol to try and numb/heal the pain. It was a pattern I had struggled with for almost 25 years. I’m grateful today to tell you – I am no longer affected in that way. I no longer associate alcohol with healing. I did THE work! Like I’d mentioned before, everyone’s journey will be different. You will receive what you need from the medicine! All I’ll say is that ~ Iboga is no joke and I had my a$$ kicked ~ in all the right ways! I did a lot of journaling during my retreat! Journal! Journal! JOURNAL!!! I was committed to my healing and Iboga carried me through! And then there’s Sherry!! Having her support through my journey took the experience to a whole other level! When I say Sherry was there – I mean it! She was fully present, fully THERE for me throughout the entire week. She never left my side. She helped me pull apart the things that came up for me, my limiting beliefs, the importance of setting boundaries and the importance of forgiving myself! Sherry is a healer and totally meant to be doing the work that she does ~ she was THE best person I could’ve had by my side to do this type of intense transformational work! She is loving and sweet but she’s also honest and tough (when you need it). And she has the most contagious laugh ~ she is HILARIOUS! She’s also a great cook ~ my meals were prepared for me throughout the whole retreat. And I loved every meal! In fact, one of the meals she prepared for breakfast is my favorite breakfast recipe now! I have it at least twice a week. I could go on and on…..but I’ll bring this to a close cause as I’ve mentioned before ~ everyone’s experience with the medicine will be unique to them. If YOU are being called to Iboga – I encourage you to lean into the calling. It really can be equivalent to yearsss of therapy ~ if you do the work and are committed to your healing! I am so grateful I listened to the calling. Thank you Sherry and Ibogawaken. I no longer crave alcohol, I set very clear boundaries and I am intentional that what I consume is healthy and nourishing for my body, mind and soul. Thank YOU Iboga for showing me my truth, helping me to break my codependency and for reminding me of how worthy I am. Basse, Namaste ~ Love ~ SP ~ March 2022
  • It's 10 years of therapy in a week!
This was the most intense, transcendent, sometimes difficult, incredible, transformative, healing and magical experience I've ever had. There aren't descriptive words to explain what this is. Other than magic. Wise, old, earth magic. Damn right, it's 10 years of therapy in a week! It couldn't be facilitated by a better person. Sherry's background in psychotherapy and holistic healing is the perfect marriage with being an Iboga provider. She is heavily trained and takes this work and the Bwiti tradition very seriously and so provides a very knowledgeable and safe experience. The whole week is run like a well oiled machine. As seriously as Sherry takes her work, she also believes in the healing power of laughter and man, did we ever laugh! My face still hurts! It's a nice reprieve from doing this kind of deep work to be able to release via laughter. Her tough love approach, easy going nature, real authenticity and genuine passion for helping people heal make her absolutely destined for this kind of healing. There's no one I would have rather done this with and I could not recommend anyone more strongly for this. What I have come away from this experience is too long of a list for a testimonial so I'll keep it to the biggest takeaways. I have had no signs of Raynaud's phenomenon since my first ceremony (have lived with it daily for 10 years), the treatment for the autoimmune condition I have been working through is taking and I'm finally healing because my body no longer carries resistance associated to past trauma, I have a full toolbelt of skill sets now in order to maintain my incredible emotional state, I have no fear, anxiety, shame or anger in my body, I have found forgiveness in a way I never thought possible, I'm connected to love and joy on such a deeper level and I have a knowledge and understanding that my life has shifted permanently in the right direction as a result of this experience. I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that psychedelic plant medicine, and Iboga specifically, is the physical, mental and spiritual healing of the future. If you feel the call, don't wait. ~ GK
  • The process was helpful and supportive; the fact that she has completed spiritual psychotherapy training is definitely a plus.
My experience with Iboga was amazing - I got to the root cause of my issues I couldn't get to through therapy, consequently leading to further insights. Sherry's assistance throughout the process was helpful and supportive; the fact that she has completed spiritual psychotherapy training is definitely a plus during the integration part of the retreat. Also, Sherry took care of every small detail, making my experience safe and comfortable. As a person, she is fun, and real, passionate about what she does, and her personality is an additional asset! ~ SA

  • Highly recommend the experience. Be fearless and take the leap of faith.
The experience I had on Iboga, provided by Sherry and Adele was incredible. It was definitely transformative for me. This spiritual path is what I came for. You can and will process your emotional experience quickly, going through the steps towards your acceptance and peace of mind. Healing your emotional wounds old or new. I am grateful for the opportunity to experience Iboga. Highly recommend the experience. Be fearless and take the leap of faith. ~RA
  • Guide you toward activating and thriving in all the unique ways that you yourself know deep down is completely possible.
When I think about my iboga journey that was guided by Sherry, I’m immediately brought to a place and consideration of her warmth and courage. Sherry is a friend and a sister through Bwiti tradition. She fiercely maintains the values of Missoko Bwiti and is unwavering in her commitment to strengthening herself so that she can be of ultimate service within ceremony. People often view ceremony as a time that is supposed to be strictly serious and sacred in nature. Sherry has shown me that we can have reverence for tradition and also have fun learning about ourselves with the medicine. It’s not that the ceremony is recreational by any means, but it’s a time in which we can see that our life is made up of laughter, dance, celebration, and light-heartedness so that we can be receptive to the teachings of Bwiti. This tradition is about learning how to live and live well. I’ve been locked up in psychological trauma for certain portions of my life, and Sherry has taught me that forgiveness is the most powerful learning I can offer myself. We’re not meant to hold regret or judgments in our hearts, and when we can forgive ourselves and others, it opens us to really recognizing our value as sovereign beings. Forgiveness is made tangible in ceremony. We often look at esteemed virtues and principles as abstract in nature… something barely out of reach. Sherry will show you through personal testimony and traditional storytelling that these things are within immediate reach as well as application. When you sit around the fire with her, you’re of course sitting with a teacher who is committing their life to Bwiti, but know too that you’re also communing with a friend who will encourage and guide you toward activating and thriving in all the unique ways that you yourself know deep down is completely possible. ~ BK
  • It helped me release so much conflict, sadness, and shame that my body physically responded and felt amazing.
Sherry guided me in two ceremonies three weeks ago. The experience so far seems to have been truly life changing. The medicine allowed me deep insights into myself that I didn't think were possible. It helped me release so much conflict, sadness, and shame that my body physically responded and felt amazing. I can also tangibly notice that I live with more joy and love. This has impacted my relationships, my profession, and my day to day habits all for the better. I have also noticed that my wife experienced profound impacts herself, including instantly healing a condition deemed incurable by Western medicine. She has not, for almost three weeks now, had a single instance of symptoms that used to be daily. Sherry made my wife and I feel very comfortable and supported throughout the retreat and everything ran very smoothly. It is obvious that she has deep training and also an innate gift for this kind of healing. Sherry had a great balance of compassion and being a straight shooter all mixed with heavy doses of humour (lots of belly laughing... not an easy feat with me). I absolutely recommend connecting with Sherry to discuss if this journey is right for you. ~ ALK
  • I wish the whole world would do this work, it can heal the world!
It is hard to put into words and articulate how this medicine works and what it shows you. Each experience is different and you may go in with certain expectations on what will be addressed and what will be shown to you. May I say that it is best to leave all expectations out of it, because the medicine will determine how it addresses your issues and what issues are to be shown to you at all. It truly is a magical healer! After my first ceremony I felt so much lighter, like I had lost 50 lbs., of emotional baggage! The work you put in after the ceremony, healing and letting go of what has been holding you back from happiness is the most important work. The medicine shows you what you need to do and the healing that you need to do. Sherry is there with you to help you manage the feelings that come up and work through them, guiding you in the best way possible to release those feelings that are holding you back. She is the real deal, when in her presence you know you are with someone who truly believes in her work and possesses special gifts that make her someone you will want to guide you through your journey. Sherry genuinely respects the Bwiti tradition, and you feel like you are a participant of this tradition as well while in the ceremony. You can trust that the medicine is being used in a traditional and sacred way, which was an important element to me. I can’t say enough positive things about Sherry or the medicine and the whole experience. If you feel called, do it! You will not regret it! I wish the whole world would do this work, it can heal the world! ~ AK
  • Creates a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere for the healing work.
Sherry is a grounded and caring provider who has committed herself to proper training in the field. She has travelled to Gabon 3 times for her personal healing as well as professional training, and works with sacred medicine directly from the Bwiti community in Gabon. She mentored under one of the top providers outside of Gabon for three years before going into private practice. For these reasons I trust being in her hands. She creates a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere for the healing work. I felt I could freely talk to her about anything, as my issues, thoughts and feelings came up during the process. I feel she is particularly gifted working one-on-one with women. ~ RL
  • Helped me to go deeper to my inner self.
I had a few iboga ceremonies before and the ceremony with Sherry was one the most profound ones. During the ceremony she was super caring and the atmosphere was very relaxed and comfortable and it helped me to go deeper to my inner self. And what I liked the most was the fun we had. I laughed so much and I felt so good just watching what iboga was showing me. Next morning I was having some visions and one of them was very unpleasant.. Thanks to Sherry she guided me to that and I had one of the biggest insights. Also I want to say that all my previous ceremonies were with men and the ceremony with a woman was a bit different, I felt a more like minded vibe. I am really grateful to Sherry for this beautiful experience that I had. I will always remember that. ~ SB 10th March 2023
